All 72 Regina elementary schools benefit from huge donation

Today Regina KidSport reinforced their tag line, So All Kids Can Play, with the donation of a truckload of sports equipment to Regina's 72 elementary schools. This special delivery was made today at Extreme Hockey and Sports, the local sporting supplier who helped secure the sports equipment.

“We take our mission seriously and with pride, So All Kids Can Play”, proclaimed Sean Barry, Chair, Regina KidSport. “We seek to provide all children with an opportunity to get active and to benefit from team sports, and hence are providing each and every elementary school with the necessary tools to get involved."

Included in the truckload of sports equipment were soccer balls and collapsible kids’ size soccer nets, basketballs, volleyballs, agility and fitness equipment such as stretching bands and stepping ladders, and lesson plans for each sport. The total cost for everything was $72,013.66.

“This is an investment in our children through sport,” Barry said. “Through organized sport, kids will develop life skills, lifelong friendships and excellent fitness. And just maybe, this could be the beginning of Canada's next great Olympian."

Regina KidSport is a children's charity that provides financial assistance to disadvantaged youth in our community to help them participate in sport. Children and youth up to the ages of 18, who are lacking the funds to participate in sport, are eligible for assistance.
