DONATION MADE TO LOCAL CHARITY
Regina KidSport™ is pleased to welcome a donation made by Fortress Real Capital. A cheque presentation for $7,500 was made to Regina KidSport™ at a press conference held at the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and Museum earlier today. The new program, designed to help young hockey players who may face financial obstacles to play the sport, was launched by Regina KidSport™, in cooperation with Fortress Real Capital, the funding partner for the Capital Pointe project. This program, “Hockey Sweaters on Kids”, was kick-started with a $7,500 donation from Fortress, and both partners in this initiative are urging the community to get involved and support the program during the holiday period.
Fortress Real Capital is the funding partner for the Capital Pointe Hotel/Condominium project in downtown Regina, and Fortress is kick-starting the “Hockey Sweaters on Kids” initiative with Regina KidSport™ and the Ehrlo Outdoor Hockey League (OHL). The OHL provides recreational opportunities for children who miss out on sporting opportunities due to poverty or other barriers that limit access to organized sports. It promotes the concept of removing the equipment barrier and empowering individuals, families and communities to control their own recreation. It operates for 14 weeks a year in seven inner-city communities in the city. The OHL starts in December/January and wraps up in March. Regina KidSport’s mission is to increase the accessibility of sporting opportunities to financially disadvantaged children so that these children may achieve mental, physical, social and personal development through participation in community sport programs.
“The partners in the Capital Pointe project, Westgate Developments and Brightstar, are delighted to be able to support this terrific new initiative that will help KidSport™ put Hockey Sweaters on Kids. In taking the lead in this initiative, our funding partners, Jawad Rathore and Vince Petrozza’s from Fortress Real Capital, are demonstrating their intent to get involved in Regina the community in a meaningful way, and Capital Pointe is pleased to play a part in that,” said Greg Black, the Senior VP of Project Development with Brightstar.
“Regina KidSport™ is thrilled and proud to receive this level of support from Fortress Real Capital,” said Sean Barry, Chair, Regina KidSport™. This donation will allow us to continue to meet the high demand on our funds for financially disadvantaged young hockey players. We rely on the support of partners, corporate donors, donations from individuals, and volunteers So ALL Kids Can Play! This donation will help us achieve our goals.
